The common dandelion, Taraxacum Officinale, is a well-known weed. It is also a thing of great beauty; from its symmetrical foliage and bright yellow flowers to the elegance and fragility of its ‘puffball’ seed head.

Dandelions have a great significance in many cultures around the world. The plant is believed to be a symbol of hope, growth and healing.

However dandelions are best known for their association with wishes. We have all blown their seeds into the wind, believing that each tiny floret carries a wish into the universe. To make a wish:
1. Hold your wishing jar/frame and close your eyes
2. Take a few deep breaths to clear your mind
3. Focus your thoughts on your wish
4. Imagine the feel of your wish coming true
5. Visualise the wind carrying your wish off into the world
6. Think of your wish often and believe it to come true

Note that nature rarely creates perfect forms. Every dandelion is different, but be assured that only the best specimens are gathered for preservation.
